Ilmari Kuusi
Ilmari, "Immu," is the founder and CEO of the company. Ilmari is a versatile person who enjoys being around people. Years ago, Ilmari founded the Studioyleisö service, which became the foundation for our new platform focused on casting. Photographer friend Marek Sabogal soon joined the development work, and their very different personalities found a shared passion for building a service that addresses the film industry's matchmaking challenges in a new way.
Ilmari’s commercial education and background as a competitive athlete, combined with his dreamer nature as a sailor, drive the company forward persistently. “My role is to connect people and productions and to make things run smoothly. The best part is when people have diverse, communal experiences during shoots and boldly set out to experience something new.”
Alongside family life, most of the free time is spent sailing on the sea in the summers and cross-country skiing in the winters. The guitar is also played whenever possible!
Marek Sabogal
Already at the age of 6, I became interested in portrait photography through a National Geographic magazine that fell into my mailbox as a gift from my godmother. Perhaps that sparked my interest in people, both in pictures and as personalities. Having done street photography in the past, I especially noticed that ordinary people often have much greater charisma and personality than the bigger front-row stars I have photographed a lot.
I have worked as a photographer for over 20 years and have been involved in various small and large productions. Many commercial shoots, numerous front-line artists and authors. Occasionally, I have photographed portraits and brand images directly for companies. As a still photographer, I have worked in several TV and film productions, and I also create promotional posters for movies and TV series. People are almost always featured in my photos, rarely professional models. From all this, I have developed a strong understanding of people, both with those being photographed and with clients.
Balticfilmworks I work as the creative developer and producer of the service. It’s really awesome to be developing something that hasn’t existed before in Finland and to offer better and more efficient tools for casting professionals, as well as providing an opportunity for undiscovered gems to be found more easily.
